We are thrilled to start the week with exciting news about our continued partnership with Mbare Primary School, a key partner in our mission to support education. Mbare Primary School is home to 90% of the children we support through Hope of Family's programs. Today, we are proud to announce that we have extended our collaboration with the school, building on the success of last year's efforts.
As part of this partnership, we have provided school material packages to 350 students in Primary 1 (P1) and Primary 2 (P2). Our decision to focus on these early grades is based on data from the Mbare Situation Analysis conducted in October 2021, which highlighted a critical challenge: the lack of school materials. The analysis revealed that 90% of surveyed parents cited insufficient school supplies as a major barrier to their children's academic success, particularly in national examinations. Many of these children come from low-income families, which limits their ability to access necessary educational resources.
To address this issue, we began providing school materials to P1 students last year to mitigate the challenge from the root. The results were remarkable: all students passed their grade, with an average of over 70%, and none had to repeat. This success demonstrated that when children are equipped with the right tools, and when parents and teachers provide the necessary support, academic performance improves. This year, we have expanded the initiative to include P2 students, ensuring that we continue to lay a strong educational foundation for these young learners.Parents were present at the school event where our Education Program Manager, Mr. Nyandwi Charles, spoke to them about their critical role in their children's education. He emphasized the importance of visiting their children at school, providing time for revision at home, supporting homework, and attending school activities. This collaboration between parents, teachers, and our team is essential for long-term success.
The most recent national exam results show that 58 students from Mbare Primary School, including 23 children from our beneficiary families, successfully passed and are now continuing their education in secondary school. We are committed to seeing even more success in the future as our partnership with Mbare Primary School grows, helping students overcome challenges and achieve academic excellence.
