At Hope of Family, we are proud to share the inspiring journey of TWIVANEMUBUKENE, a group of 25 passionate youth who have turned their dreams into reality through our Youth Economic Empowerment Program.
These young individuals, part of Cohort 2, recently completed a three-month vocational course in mushroom farming. With determination and teamwork, they have launched their own mushroom farming initiative. The idea for this project originated within their group, supported by their efforts to save and invest through a community savings and credit scheme.
The journey of these remarkable youth began with our Leadership Academy, where they gained invaluable skills in:
- Entrepreneurship
- Leadership
- Reproductive Health
- Human Rights Education
After completing the Leadership Academy, participants are enrolled in TVET schools to undertake short vocational courses tailored to equip them with practical skills. This initiative focuses on empowering youth who missed the chance to continue formal education due to financial hardship and other rural challenges.
In addition to the mushroom cultivators, other program participants are currently pursuing vocational training in hairdressing, masonry, and tailoring, opening doors to diverse income-generating opportunities.Impact of the Youth Economic Empowerment Program
To date, this program has:
- Trained 100 youth through the Leadership Academy.
- Supported 74 graduates in completing vocational training across various fields.
These initiatives aim to prepare rural youth for the job market, enable them to start their own small businesses, and ultimately help improve the lives of their families and communities.
The success of TWIVANEMUBUKENE and many other participants reflects the transformative power of this initiative. Together, we are building brighter futures, one skill at a time.
