Since 2018, Hope of Family has been dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in the Shyogwe Sector of Muhanga District, Rwanda. Our impact has been profound, touching the lives of thousands of individuals through transformative educational, economic, and health programs. Here is a snapshot of the milestones we have reached in creating lasting change:
Education is the cornerstone of every child’s future, and since 2018, Hope of Family has helped rural, vulnerable children access quality education and achieve measurable improvements in school performance. Thousands of children now attend school regularly, progressing to the next grade level, and graduating to secondary school. This is a dramatic shift in a community where, at the start of our journey, 90% of families were unable to provide necessary school materials for their children.
In just six years, hundreds of children have graduated from primary school to secondary school, with many now studying in boarding and non-boarding schools. Through parental involvement programs, 520 parents have received training on their vital role in supporting their children's education and positive parenting. These parents are now consistently visiting their children at school, creating a culture of education within the community. This transformation is evident in the increased parental engagement and an overall improvement in school attendance, progression, and completion rates.
