Founder and Legal Representative
Aimable Mpayimana was born and raised in Muhanga, Southern part of Rwanda where Hope of Family operates. He is currently the Partnership Manager, East Africa for Bylo Chacon Foundation. Before this, he worked for two USAID –funded education projects promoting early grade literacy. He also taught at Akilah Institute for Women and worked as part-time tutor for the University of Rwanda/college of Education. He holds Bachelors’ degree in Education and MA in the Development Studies as well as certificate program in the Holocaust education from Trinity College Dublin in partnership with the Holocaust Education Trust; this was combination of intensive readings and field trips to Dublin, Krakow, Berlin and Jerusalem. As Holocaust Educator, he is connected with Anne Frank House, Amsterdam and has told the story to more than 200 Rwandan teachers. He has also participated in other certificate programs including the Roots of Antisemitism offered by Yad Vashem, Jerusalem. After attending the 2013 Freedom Writers Foundation in Los Angeles, CA, he has emulated a wide range of techniques and adapted them to especially allow Agahozo Shalom Youth Village students approach both school and life with a positive outlook. After attending the 2015 joint program of UNESCO& United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, he co-published “Teaching Holocaust and Genocide education in Rwanda’’ in the Contemporary Review of Middle East (CRME). He is married with two children and they all of them live in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda.
