A Joyful Day: Official Launch of the IJWI Program

  • October 01st, 2025

Yesterday marked a milestone for Hope of Family as we proudly launched our newest initiative: the IJWI Program. This transformative program is designed to strengthen community engagement and empower both students and teachers to advance human rights within school clubs and communities across whole Muhanga District.

At its core, the IJWI Program seeks to equip teachers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to bring human rights education to life in student clubs. Beyond schools, the program also empowers community members to lead meaningful and lasting change, ensuring that the values of justice, dignity, and equality take root in everyday life.

Sector officialsThe launch was honored by the presence of district and sector officials, who joined us to witness firsthand the rollout of this transformative program and to engage with its objectives and methodologies. Their participation underscored the strong collaboration between local authorities and Hope of Family in advancing education and community development.

The event also featured an inspiring panel of experts, including educators academicians, community leaders, and human rights advocates, who shared valuable insights, real-life experiences, and practical strategies for embedding human rights education in student clubs and community initiatives. Their reflections highlighted both the immediate and long-term impact the IJWI Program is expected to have, emphasizing how empowering teachers and students can ripple out to create meaningful, sustainable change across the district. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and gain a deeper understanding of the program’s vision, making the launch not only a ceremonial event but also an interactive platform for learning, collaboration, and community engagement.

One of the most memorable highlights was the message from the Mayor of Muhanga District, Mr. KAYITARE Jacqueline, who emphasized the unique value the IJWI Program brings:

“The key steps we have taken in education to save a child should now be combined with the IJWI Program. For the outcomes we have been waiting for, people should recognize that something valuable has been added. The more time you spend with the community, the better you understand their needs and how to help solve their problems. Thank you, Hope of Family, for this important initiative – it is not only a joy but also a responsibility for each one of us.” Mr. KAYITARE Jacqueline.
