As part of our holistic approach to uplifting vulnerable families, Hope of Family recently provided pigs to 56 beneficiary households in the Shyogwe Sector. This impactful initiative is designed to strengthen the financial resilience of these families by introducing a sustainable source of income through small-scale livestock farming.
The provision of pigs not only offers economic benefits but also plays a vital role in our broader mission to improve children’s access to quality education. By raising and farming these animals, families are empowered to generate income that can be used to support their children’s educational journey—covering essentials such as school fees, uniforms, and learning materials.
Our Executive Director, Mr. Iyamuremye Nshuti Augustin, alongside our Livelihood Program Manager, visited the families during the distribution event. They engaged warmly with the beneficiaries, encouraging them to take good care of the animals and reminding them that this opportunity is not just about livestock—it’s about investing in their children’s future and fighting the cycle of poverty.
This initiative also contributes to our efforts to combat malnutrition. By using natural manure from the pigs, families can enrich their kitchen gardens, grow healthier vegetables, and improve household nutrition. The joy and excitement among the beneficiaries were unmistakable. Their smiles reflected not just happiness, but hope—hope for a more stable livelihood and a better future for their children.
At Hope of Family, we remain deeply committed to our mission of reducing extreme family poverty through strong and efficient children’s education. Witnessing the transformation in our communities inspires us to continue building pathways toward lasting change.
