Hope of Family Empowers 837 Vulnerable Children with School Materials as the New Academic Year Begins

  • September 25th, 2024

As the 2024-2025 academic year kicks off, Hope of Family is proud to support 837 children from vulnerable families, ensuring they are equipped with a full package of school materials to attend classes effectively. The children were thrilled to receive these supplies, and their high morale and motivation to pursue their educational journey is evident. Parents, too, expressed their gratitude, knowing their children have the essential tools for academic success.

Our interventions are based on thorough research. A study conducted in the Shyogwe Sector revealed that one of the key reasons for poor performance in rural public schools during national examinations is that 90% of parents struggle to provide basic school materials for their children. To mitigate this challenge, Hope of Family has provided comprehensive assistance to children from these families, ensuring they have a solid foundation for learning and future success in secondary and university education.

We are also pleased to report that all 23 Primary 6 students from our beneficiary families who sat for national exams have passed and will be progressing to secondary school. This remarkable achievement reflects the growing impact of our support in shaping the future of these children.

This progress would not have been possible without the incredible contributions from our partners, including the Woven Foundation, Segal Family Foundation, Imago Dei Fund, Foundation for Systemic Change, Up with Africa, World Connect, and individual donors. Together, we are empowering children to dream bigger and achieve more, ensuring that no child is left behind in their educational journey.
