Every day in rural Rwanda, children face challenges they did not choose. Poverty, limited access to quality education, and uncertainty continue to shape their lives. At Hope of Family, our work begins with these realities and with a firm belief that strong and efficient education can break the cycle of extreme family poverty.
Last few weeks, this local commitment was represented on a global platform. Our Executive Director, IYAMUREMYE NSHUTI Augustin, joined more than 400 change-makers, innovators, and social impact leaders at Opportunity Collaboration (OC) in Lisboa, Portugal. OC is a global “un-conference” that brings together individuals and organizations committed to ending poverty and injustice through collaboration, learning, and action.

OC is more than an event. It is a space where philanthropists, nonprofit leaders, and impact investors engage in open dialogue, exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and form partnerships that accelerate social impact.
For Hope of Family, this participation was deeply meaningful. It provided an opportunity to share our vision of reducing extreme family poverty through education while learning from organizations driving change in diverse communities around the world. Conversations and shared experiences reinforced the importance of education as a foundation for resilient families and thriving communities.
Through these engagements, we gained valuable insights, built new connections, and explored opportunities for collaboration that will strengthen our programs and expand our impact. The experience renewed our commitment to serving children and families with greater innovation, accountability, and purpose.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Woven Foundation and Imago Dei Fund for their generous support in making this participation possible. Your trust in our mission has enabled learning, connection, and growth that will directly benefit the children and families we serve.
As we move forward, we carry with us renewed energy and a stronger global network, reaffirming our belief that when education is prioritized, hope becomes action and lasting change is possible.
