In a recent collaborative effort between Hope of Family and EP MBARE school, significant strides towards improving educational outcomes have been made towards addressing the longstanding issue of poor academic performance especially in National Examination.Recently, a significant meeting was held involving District and Sector Education officials, school administration, and representatives from Hope of Family NGO to evaluate the outcomes of this intervention.
The initiative, which commenced in the 2023-2024 academic year, aimed to tackle the root causes of underperformance by providing essential school materials to P1 students. Through meticulous evaluation and monitoring, Hope of Family's M&E ecosystem analyzed the academic progress of students at EP MBARE School compared to a control group from Groupe Scholaire NYABIZI.
The presentation showcased compelling evidence of the intervention's effectiveness, with EP MBARE School outperforming GS NYABIZI in the lower primary level during the first term of the academic year. This success underscores the tangible impact of targeted interventions in educational settings.
Key factors contributing to this success were identified, including increased parental involvement in their children's education. Since the collaboration between Hope of Family and EP MBARE, an impressive 90% of parents have been actively engaging with the school, participating in discussions with teachers regarding their children's education.
Additionally, initiatives such as home visits, revision support at home, and involvement in school activities have been instrumental in fostering a conducive learning environment. This concerted effort to bridge the gap between home and school environments has proven instrumental in fostering academic success.
The meeting concluded with participants offering recommendations to further strengthen the initiatives spearheaded by Hope of Family to elevate the school's performance in national examinations. The collective effort and dedication showcased by all stakeholders underscore a promising trajectory towards improving educational outcomes for children at EP MBARE school.
